Let’s Talk about Mental Health

The NFT space lacks mental health awareness, and I want to help change that or at least provide some tools.

There’s very little acknowledgment of how NFT culture can lead to a combination of burnout, stress, and triggering mental health issues (depression, anxiety, etc.).

We as a community need to acknowledge this while also taking into account how fast the space moves.

For some people, it’s their first time dealing with these new stressors, or they are unaware of behavioral changes.

It could be anything from time mismanagement, neglecting relationships, lack of boundaries, self-deprecation, or emotional disharmony (sadness, anger, jealousy).

So what are some tools that can help manage that?

Going from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset can do wonders for your mental health.

What is a scarcity mindset? It’s believing you have less than other people.

Retooling your mindset into one of abundance allows you to be grateful for what you have and to think positively. Reframing yourself from missing out on a project to thinking about how many projects are released will make you less stressed.

In addition to that, being grateful for the things you have is also a good way to reframe negativity while acknowledging it.

“I am sad that I did not mint this project, but I am grateful for the connections I have made in this space.”

Speaking of connections, have a support group you can dive into NFTs with. “WAGMI.”

Having a group, you can talk about projects with and celebrate wins/losses together rather than doing it alone can make that journey much more fun.

Speaking of the journey, try to take a break when you can. Don’t neglect your relationships. It’s healthy to set boundaries for yourself and to make sure your emotional, physical, and mental needs are met as well.

Health is wealth.

If you’re feeling burnt out from the NFT scene, unplug for a day or two or even a week. Re-enter yourself and try to find joy in the things you find enjoyable. Reach out to friends and family to see how they are doing. Show gratitude for small wins.

Learn how to meditate or even just do breathing exercises. The NFT space moves so fast that we forget to appreciate the present. When you worry about the future and what you missed, that can stress you out a lot—same thing with worrying about things that have already happened.

Acknowledging the things you can’t control while focusing on things you can control can help hone in on what needs to be accomplished. Meditation can help you with that. It lets you focus on what’s happening now rather than what’s happening in your head.
