NFT NYC’s best event of 2022 was Cooltopia. How?

It was inclusive!

NFT collections are exclusive by design. You either own a token and are a part of a cool club, or you don’t, and you have to look in from the outside. I had a lot of fun at NFT NYC, but it was basically a whole week of celebrating exclusivity.

Celebrity musicians performed at lavish event spaces with tasty food and open bars, open exclusively to project community members. I was lucky enough to join a lot of these events. They were freaking awesome!!

But since I’m not a holder of every NFT, I couldn't attend every event. It’s the nature of NFTs. Or so I thought until I went to the Cool Cats event, Cooltopia.

Cooltopia was a mini amusement park designed to showcase the Cool Cats brand and culture. It had interactive furniture, an obstacle course (called the Fur is Lava 😂), a collaborative team video game on a giant screen, and endless picture opportunities.

Visitors were granted the ability to accumulate points throughout the event and, in the end, trade their points for merchandise and food. All for free! (Most projects don’t give away free merchandise)

I loved this event because it wasn’t just a party. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good social soiree on a New York City rooftop as much as the next person, but this was different. It was memorable. It was an experience.

Oh, I forgot to mention the best part — It was open to non-holders. It was open to anyone willing to register and give their email address. It was open to everyone!

It wasn’t an exclusive event. It was inclusive of everyone.

Non NFT holders, kids, and families all got to enjoy the fun event. No commitment was required. With such a great event, it's safe to assume a lot of visitors were onboarded.

Cool Cats refuted that NFTs have to be exclusive by design and reinvigorated most of my inclusive goals for the Mental Health Collective.

I’m not a Cool Cats holder, but I wish I was. I’ll settle for proudly wearing my free merch instead! Thank you!
